Cults of the Five Horsemen - WAR

Bringing about the apocalypse on Earth will require the willing support of humans there, people with the drive to commit terrible deeds in order to trigger the end times. These individuals have come together to form cults, bindings of zealots that operate and worship different aspects of the individual horsemen they wish to summon forth. This spotlight focuses on two of War's cults, both frothing at the mouth for more bloodshed and battles to fight.

The Army of the Apocalypse 🎖️
A cheer went out when the call to end the slaughter came - but the song of peace was not taken up by all who fought. For those who found glory in the bloodbaths, serenity in the senseless killing, the end of the war was something they could not face.

The Army of the Apocalypse was born when War returned to the world, and sought out those few who would serve him unending. Theirs is the anthem of destruction, composed of the sounds of rifle shots and raining artillery shells. Fighting is the only thing that makes them feel alive, and if the end of the world is the price to pay - they’ll pay up in full.

The Bloodhounds 😡
Driven by rage, the Bloodhounds make up for what they lack in tactical or strategic merit with an overpowering bloodlust and vicious strength. Sticks and stones break bones, and flesh can be torn asunder by bare hands if needs be.

Very little care is given to personality safety within the cult, as a missing limb or disfiguring wound is almost as good as the skull of a righteous human when it comes to distinguishing oneself as a true worshipper of War.

Demon Poll Ongoing!

That's all for now, but remember to vote in our community summoning a demon poll to select their favoured weapon. If they are fighting along War, they are going to need to be armed to the teeth!

Apocalyptic Tunes

Hi everyone, Charlie here wirh some insight to our creative process over at Parable Games!

When working on Sisterhood or any other project, we always make sure to gather together some music for inspiration when writing, playtesting and illustrating. It's amazing how a shared soundtrack can really unite the vision of what a creative project is. We wanted to share our soundtrack with you here, our ever-growing Sisterhood playlist:

There's quite a mix of music in here that tries to cover all the different shades and tones of Sisterhood. We range from the cinematic soundtracks of movies that inspired us, such as Constantine, as well as any others that suit the tone, all the way to doom-riddled jazz for our more noir-inspired, investigative moments. Finally, you'll see there are quite a few tracks from video games, A Plague Tale providing some haunting choir and darkness, whilst Doom and Wolfenstein bring the thunder for unleashing hails of bullets upon your foes.

Let us know what you think needs adding to this playlist and help us grow it! We want to know what songs soundtrack your apocalypse, so comment below with any track recommendations 🤘

WRAITHBORN - A Grim Folk Fantasy RPG

A shout out to our friend Hamilton who is currently crowdfunding Wraithborn over on Kickstarter!
Its a Grim Folk Fantasy setting for Mörk Borg & OSR TTRPGs set in the Veiled Realm of Sgàil, a shadowed echo of a medieval reality where the un-dead & the cursed reside beside the wretched & vile whom call this world home.

It's gnarly as hell, so make sure to check it out as its on its last day of crowdfunding here!:

Check out our original villain designs ✍️

Bringing the Horsemen designs into the 21st century, and then throwing them back to the mid 20th, was no easy task. They’re a huge cornerstone of the Sisterhood experience, so they needed to feel right to the history of the individual horseman, but also have enough new and original design input to make them Parable originals. It all begins with a concept.

Ben: War is one of the Horsemen that doesn’t change too much over time, he kind of evolves with humanity. So it was about filling out his design with the right level and range of weaponry to really bring home just how much this big guy loves combat.

Ben: I think Pestilence was a tricky balance to get right, figuring how much was enough for her design.

Charlie: Really making the connection to mid-twentieth century medicine brought the core concept forward. It was the most important part for me, this creature abusing mankind's most noble efforts the way war abuses our worst impulses.

Adam: Honestly the hardest part was pushing to go harder on the gnarliness of her. Just making her more and more rotten. We gave Ben some horrendous notes on this one, just seeing how far we could push the design before it was too much. We don’t really thank Ben enough for all the things we make him do.

Which Horseman do you ride for? 🐴

Charlie: Originally I wanted death to carry this bomb on his back, carrying the weight of the new atomic era of mass destruction around with him, but Adam suggested we make the bomb part of him. Once Ben added in the ribs encasing the bomb, we all felt like we’d taken the Grim Reaper and kicked him into overdrive.

Adam: We’d looked into a more “classical” design for famine, but they were really lacking that kind of modernisation we’d worked into War and Death. It was definitely the most complex design, given that the apocalyptic nature of famine has undergone some significant changes in the 20th century. But when we made industrialisation a big part of the formula, it really fell together.

We'll be back with more development logs for the other Horsemen later in the campaign!
